Bringing Justice to Health

The overall objective of the meeting is to discuss the health benefits of access to justice interventions (including legal empowerment projects), explore different approaches towards increasing access to justice for marginalized and criminalized populations, and to strategize about how projects exemplifying good practices can be replicated and scaled up. The meeting will include presentations by grantees implementing projects for people affected by HIV, sex workers, people who use drugs, Roma, palliative care patients, and people with mental disabilities.

Particular attention will be devoted to the following:

- identifying the key ingredients of successful access to justice projects

- assessing the evidence of the health impact of access to justice interventions, and how it can be further strengthened

- exploring how projects can integrate legal empowerment and social accountability approaches
