Meeting Objectives
- Explore various pricing policies in use by countries, understanding better what policies have successfully led to reduced prices, and which have not.
- Discuss the environment in which countries make pricing policy decisions, including pressures exerted by political, economic, and social circumstances – and consider how the structure of the health system itself impacts access and prices.
- Explore how emerging trends in innovation, intellectual property and the global supply chain of medicines impact medicine prices.
- Highlight the need to change the narrative around medicine pricing, and discuss ways to do this.
- Outline civil society experience in engaging in pricing policy advocacy, and think through what effective roles could be, including discussing possible demands (global and local) from civil society on medicine pricing.
